HCS SCS SB 1086 -- POLICE OFFICER COMPENSATION SPONSOR: Kennedy (Kratky) COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on Crime Prevention and Public Safety by a vote of 12 to 0. This substitute eliminates the compensation tables for St. Louis police officers and allows the St. Louis Board of Police Commissioners to compute and establish the annual salary of each member of the police force without receiving prior authorization from the General Assembly. The substitute contains an emergency clause. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds in FY 2007, FY 2008, and FY 2009. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill allows the St. Louis Board of Police Commissioners to raise the pay of its officers without having to petition the General Assembly. Testifying for the bill were Senator Kennedy; and St. Louis Police Leadership Organization. OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
